Can be used to understand how relationships affect tension within the community. Traditionally, the Relationship Mapping tool shows the various connections between actors and groups. In this case, after mapping the different relationships within the community, community members are asked quantitative and qualitative questions about each relationship. These “scores” are then combined and averaged into a Community Tension Index. Repeating this procedure at different intervals can illustrate changes in tension within communities.
