Examines general patterns of the impacts of HIV/AIDS on rural livelihood assets and proposes a set of indicators to measure these impacts. Also identifies indicators for evaluating the effectiveness of mitigation efforts. Builds on previous FAO work on the linkages between the HIV/AIDS epidemic, agriculture, food security and rural development. Provides indicators useful in understanding the impact of HIV/AIDS on household or community level food and livelihood security.
